RGD Ontario, in collaboration with the Gladstone Hotel, presents The Next Designer a panel discussion on the characteristics that will define the graphic designer of the future.

Graphic design is changing. Even its name is in dispute. New technologies, new media and a continuously evolving audience are all transforming the discipline of the design of communications in new and interesting ways. Join our expert panelists as we discuss the changing roles, skills and knowledge required of graphic designers, and where the opportunities and challenges of the profession will present themselves.

In addition to the discussion, each panelist will present a brief case study with visuals that highlights these new changes and challenges and demonstrates how designers are rising to meet them.
Join us for a special screening of this discussion as it is broadcast LIVE.

RGD Ontario, in collaboration with the Design Exchange, presents Design for Social Change a panel discussion on the process, potential and power of designing for social change.

With a world in dire need of new ideas and innovative ways of thinking and doing, designers have become more relevant than ever. Design has the ability to connect both economic and social value, resulting in solutions that are not only sustainable, but also culturally relevant as well. Increasingly, designers will be called upon to utilize their broad skill set and deep understanding of communication to redesign the future and a better world.

Join us for a special screening of this discussion as it is broadcast LIVE.Our panel discussion will be preceded by brief presentations of case studies from each of our panelists.

As the role of the designer moves towards a greater involvement in business and culture, it is crucial for designers to understand the importance of storytelling to their work. Creating interactive and participatory design that engages audiences in meaningful ways is dependent on the successful integration of narrative into the design process. Join our panelists as they offer an engaging transdisciplinary perspective on the impact narrative has on how and what we design.
